My name is Bonnie Coppedge. This blog is devoted to two things. First of all I have included and will continue to add materials related to my father, Jess W Coppedge’s experiences during his time as an enlisted man and then an officer between 1941 and 1944.
It is also a story of finding my father in 1989 when I began reading his journals. He died in 1964 and for 25 years I missed him greatly. Learning about his journey helped me understand my own.
Jess was was my uncle I miss him I am 991

Mr. Hall, I have written to Roman tonight and am also writing you. Don’t know if you will get this, but you replied to the Jess W Coppedge page that Jess was your uncle and you are either 99 or 91, it seems there is a typo.
If you are able to get this, my great-uncle who I never met and Jess knew each other and were in the same squadron, as I understand it at this point – I am still clarifying details. My great-uncle was named Orian T. Wynn and was listed Missing in Action as of April 2, 1944.
If you have more information, that would be great. I have a few letters I hope to post on the memorial page I am starting.
https://www.policefactor.com topic Orian T. Wynn. Police Factor is a blogsite, I am a non-expert civilian.
Orian was apparently a “best man” of sorts at Jess’s wedding. Not sure of the details. They apparently were buddies. Jess was apparently shot down shortly after my great-uncle was, like a few days later. I will post his letter(s) along with the others I have in my possession when I get to it soon. The letters came down the family line through my grandmother to my mother. My grandmother was Thelma Lucille Wynn-Carson, Orian’s sister, of Farmington, New Mexico.

Hi Terri, I am sorry it took me so long to write to you. I have seen your great uncle mentioned repeatedly in various documents I possess. If you like I will start communicating with you as I come across them.

Bonnie, I forgot to mention that there is an uncle still living named Alan Carson. Orian Wynn was his uncle. He was not born yet before my great-uncle died. My mother Sherry Carson Butler passed away on August 2, 2023. My great-uncle either had seen her briefly or knew of her. Alan and his children likely would also be interested in anything you come across. He also was in the Army briefly during the later round with Korea (I was a little girl at the time). I still don’t know for sure exactly how Orian died. I don’t know if Jess discovered more about Orian’s death later.

This is another 2024 response to Bonnie who wrote me in July 2024. Bonnie, I have considered the reason for no response is death or illness. I hope not, but if so, I ask family members or others to step in. Bonnie had written indicating the following: Hi Terri, I am sorry it took me so long to write to you. I have seen your great uncle mentioned repeatedly in various documents I possess. If you like I will start communicating with you as I come across them.
Bonnie
I have not heard from Bonnie after that first and only communication through email.

Orian T. Wynn was my great-uncle who knew Jess Coppedge. I am putting together a memorial page on Orian at https://www.policefactor.com. I have a little bit of material from old letters. I was both surprised and not surprised to see this website on Jess Coppedge. I feel something is trying to get out on a deeper level in all of this.
